One Same Path, Two Different Experiences

Vastly Different Observations

A daily occurrence such as walking across the Boston Common to get to school can become dangerously routine. Always keeping things the same can box you into a single frame of mind. I once fell into the habit of drowning out the noise in my headphones, and walking with my eyes directed at the ground, almost as if it were a chore to be present in the heart of Boston. That is what inspired me to create this diagram of the varying observations I collected from different behavior on my walks. Something as simple as tuning in the ears and engaging the eyes with your surroundings can drastically change an experience. Taking off those blinders can open up one's world to new connections, and new compassion. You can turn the scurrying rat to a happy-go-lucky dog, or some litter on the ground to some good samaritans recycling. Making the decision to break your routine and look for the things you are compassionate for in your environment can be overwhelmingly beneficial in starting each day off with the right mindset.
